Tunisia
Tunisia has unveiled the nation’s youngest Prime minister to take office in the modern history. Youssef Chahed has been acknowledged as a charismatic leader by local media in Tunisia who they say will steer the country in the right direction.
41-year old Youssef confidently got the support of 168 out of 217 parliamentarians against his competitor to be proclaimed the country’s prime minister in early August.
Before officially taking office on Monday, his first speech in parliament has impressed many journalists. One local newspaper wrote that his speech had worked so well in the begining , which is a sign of good governance coming.
But his government is now faced with greater challenges ranging from socio-economic issues to security, with finance being on the edge.
The new prime minister entered into politics after the uprising that ousted the former leader Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in 2011.
Youssef Chahed is also an agricultural engineer, researcher and university professor.
